Project Summary

TEAMFORADRIS addresses the urgent problem of mussel and Posidonia Oceanica mortality in the Adriatic-Ionian Sea. Through transnational, multi-disciplinary cooperation, the project contributes to preserving the marine ecosystem and fostering more sustainable seafood production.  

TEAMFORADRIS proposes a common strategy and tools to mitigate the impact of climate change (rising sea water temperature, human pressure, mass tourism and extensive agriculture) on the marine environment. These are designed to prevent, manage and bio-remediate mussel and Posidonia disappearance and the consequent reduction of oxygen and increasing of temperature in Adriatic-Ionian Sea.  

TEAMFORADRIS aims to:
- Map and gather data on key parameters and indicators of human, environmental and natural causes leading to mussel mortality, with a complementary focus on Posidonia Oceanica seabeds and the sea water columns.
- Engage key players and mussel farms in farming protocols and plastic net management, including waste, crucial for marine flora survival and TEAMFORADRIS outcomes.
- Provide and test innovative IT tools and integrated solutions, for more sustainable mussel farming production and bioremediation of the seabed with Posidonia Oceanica.  

Watch this space as results emerge! You can expect a set of environmental indicators and data sets, results from pilot testing, a digital toolkit (TEAMFORADRIS Platform as a Service, mobile APP and the technological dashboard of environmental indicators) and a common strategy.
